The Young Liberals and Democrats of Asia (YLDA), with the support of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation formally opens to all member and partner organizations the nomination for the “Political communications and making events work – a practical introduction” which will take place on the 28th of May to 1st of June, 2008, in Bangkok, Thailand.

The workshop aims to develop and strengthen YLDA member organization’s capacity to formulate and manage their own seminars and workshops with little assistance from professional consultants and facilitators. As part of its 2008 program of actions, this is YLDA’s prime program for 2008 and is aimed at capacitating liberal youth organizations in Asia.

Furthermore, the seminar seeks to establish ownership by member organizations of their events. By training their own facilitators, YLDA is also giving each organization the opportunity to replicate the workshop in their respective country.

This training would also focus on concerns regarding different kinds of approaches on facilitation and moderation as it teaches participants when and how to choose the most appropriate technique for a particular occasion.

Dr. Stefan Melnik, a senior trainer on political participation at the Friedrich Naumann Foundation (FNF) International Academy for Leadership will facilitate the workshop. He is the author and editor of books and articles on Politics, Economy, and Human Rights and is known internationally as a respected facilitator and rapporteur.

In charge of processing the nominations, the YLDA Secretariat located in Manila is now inviting YLDA member as well as partner organizations to submit three of their best candidates from which the organizers will pick the final list of participants.

Aside from English proficiency, the nominees will be screened relative to their commitment to liberal ideas and technical, academic, and professional backgrounds. Once chosen, the delegates will automatically be a member of the YLDA pool of facilitators and shall have the opportunity to be invited to facilitate YLDA events in the future depending on their professional training.

The deadline of nomination is set at May 5, 2008.
